Bollywood film actress Swara Bhaskar has filed a criminal complaint against the Twitter user & YouTube influencer Elvish Yadav

The issue started on or around 1st Oct 2021 when some #hashtags were being trended on Twitter in respect of ‘Free The Temple’ moment wherein certain #hashtags were being trended by Twitter user & YouTube influencer Elvish Yadav and he was responding to a tweet by Bollywood film actress Swara Bhaskar calling him a liar, as he had said in one of his earlier tweets that only Hindu temples have to pay taxes in India, whereas the finance ministry had clarified that there is no GST on temple trusts but Elvish Yadav had responded her tweet by saying he had not used the ‘GST’, and had referred to a scene from the movie Veere Di Wedding. Bollywood film actress Swara Bhaskar has filed a criminal complaint against Twitter user & YouTube influencer Elvish Yadav under IPC Sec 354D (stalking), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and sec 67 of IT Act (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form alleging that he has been circulating some messages on social media platforms with the intention of outraging her modesty and some hashtags have also been circulated regarding some movie scenes. A criminal case has been registered therein against Twitter user & YouTube influencer Elvish Yadav.

However while few news portals have extended their support to Bollywood film actress Swara Bhaskar, there are few other news portals who are of the view that, while Swara Bhaskar has accused Elvish Yadav, she herself have used abusive/objectionable remark/words for others, wherein during one occasion, she had abused a four-year-old child using slang words on live television and pointing that the claim of the Twitter user and Youtuber Elvish Yadav was not completely wrong regarding his claim pertaining to temples stating that even though there is no GST imposed on temples there is income tax and taxes collected by respective State Governments in several States of India from Hindu temples and such provisions are not applicable to religious institutions of other religions.
